PromptLab Privacy Policy

PromptLab ("we", "our", or "us") is a Chrome Extension that helps users improve their AI prompts using automated A/B testing. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our extension.

1. Data We Collect

PromptLab does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information.

When you click "Improve with PromptLab", the text of your prompt is sent to our backend API (hosted on Railway) solely to generate improved versions and quality scores. This prompt text is:

Processed in real-time and not stored on our servers
Not linked to your identity, browser, or account
Not shared with any third parties except OpenAI (for generating and scoring prompt improvements)

2. Third-Party Services

PromptLab uses the OpenAI API to generate and score improved prompt versions. Prompt text submitted by users is processed by OpenAI in accordance with OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

3. Permissions

PromptLab requests the following permissions:

activeTab — to detect and interact with the active browser tab (ChatGPT or Claude)
scripting — to inject the PromptLab UI into ChatGPT and Claude pages
Host permissions for chatgpt.com and claude.ai — required to display the improvement button and modal within these platforms

We do not use these permissions to monitor, record, or store your browsing activity.

4. Data Retention

We do not retain any user data. Prompt text is processed transiently and discarded after the API response is returned.

5. Children's Privacy

PromptLab is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
